Show me the money! Monetizing V2G Service

V2G is promoted as an opportunity for EV owners to generate revenue or bill savings to lower the total cost of ownership. Today, however, there are limited opportunities to monetize V2G services. This session will review the three avenues for V2G value creation: behind the meter, utility programs and export compensation rates, and wholesale market participation. The discussion will include new insights on the regulatory and policy changes necessary to ensure that V2G is compensated for the full value provided to society.

The customer value created by installing a bidirectional charging system are compelling today and only get better in the latter half of the decade. We will look at how the customer benefit (financial and reliability) is dependent on specific customer dynamics (region, home size, availability of EV for use at home), and how V2H systems can serve as the catalyst for future adoption of V2G (while regulators / utilities sort out the rules, etc.) The session will include discussion of results from Project INFLEXION - a leading V2X trial that set out to prove the scalability of this technology. The project partners conducted customer research and V2X simulations to develop compelling customer propositions and sustainable business models that will enable global adoption of the technology.
